Portability is the general characteristic of being readily transportable from one location to another.
Software portability: Portability is one of the key concepts of high-level programming. Portability is the software codebase feature to be able to reuse the existing code instead of creating new code when moving software from an environment to another. The process of reprogramming software to run on a platform it did not originally is called porting. [Source: Wikipedia]
