COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS (CP)

Collborative Projects are research projects carried out by consortia with participants from different countries, aiming at developing new knowledge, new technology, products, demonstration activities or common resources for research. The size, scope and internal organisation of projects can vary from field to field and from topic to topic. Projects can range from small or medium-scale focused research actions (STREPs) to largescale integrating projects (IPs) for achieving a defined objective. Minimum partnership: 3 partners from 3 EU or Associated countries.

Type of collaborative projects:
- IP: Large scale integrated collaborative projects are objective-driven research projects, which aim at generating new knowledge, including new technology, or common resources for research in order to improve European competitiveness, or to address major societal needs.
- STREP: Specific Targeted Research Projects are multipartner research, demonstration or innovation projects. Their purpose is to support activities of a more limited scope and ambition than IPs.

Both instruments play an important and complementary role.

- SICA - Specific International Cooperation Action
This is a special Collaborative Project geared at participants from ICPC - International Cooperation Partner Countries (e.g. Latin America or Asia). Mininum partnership: 2 partners from EU/Associated Countries, 2 from the target region/country. Funding rules like a STREP.
